Privacy Policy

Effective Date: August 1, 2026

Last Updated: August 2, 2026

1. Introduction

MIL-U ("we," "us," or "our") operates the GPS Outdoor Tools, Camera, Map mobile application (the "App"), a collection of navigation, geo-camera and device utility tools. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App. By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not use the App.

We do not operate any servers of our own. We do not have accounts, logins, or user profiles, and we do not receive your photos, videos, recordings, or personal files. Where information leaves your device it goes directly to the third-party services listed in Section 3, each for a specific and limited purpose described below.

2. Information We Collect

a. Location Data

With your permission, the App accesses your device's precise and approximate location to provide its core functionality: GPS coordinate readouts, compass and bearing, altitude and speed, offline and online maps, waypoint distance, sun and moon position, and the location stamps that the geo-camera tools draw onto photographs.

Most of this processing happens entirely on your device. However, your coordinates are transmitted to third parties in two specific cases:

  • Weather features. Your latitude and longitude are sent to OpenWeatherMap to retrieve the local conditions shown in the compass, camera, speedometer and navigation tools.
  • Map features. Google Maps and Mapbox receive location and map-viewport data in order to render map tiles and satellite imagery, including when you download areas for offline use.

Location is accessed while you are using a feature that requires it. The App does not track your location in the background, does not maintain a location history, and does not transmit your location to us.

b. Camera, Photos and Videos

The geo-camera, binocular, magnifier, night-mode and slow-shutter tools use your camera to capture photographs and video. Captures are written to the App's own private storage on your device and are shown in the App's in-app gallery. Copying a capture into your device's main photo gallery, or sharing it with another app, is always an action you take deliberately.

The App does not upload or transmit your photos and videos, and we do not receive or have access to them. Note that when you enable a location stamp, the resulting image contains your coordinates as visible text — please consider that before sharing such an image publicly.

c. Microphone

When you record video, the microphone is used to capture the audio track of that recording, which is stored inside the resulting video file on your device. The phone-diagnostics tool can also use the microphone to test that it is working. The App does not record audio in the background, does not store it separately from the video file, and does not transmit it.

d. Device and Connectivity Information

The diagnostics, signal-test and battery tools read information about your device in order to display it back to you: mobile network and signal strength, SIM information, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth status and nearby-network scans, NFC availability, battery and charging state, and sensor readings (magnetometer, accelerometer, barometer). This information is displayed on screen and is not collected by us or transmitted anywhere. The internet speed test is the one exception: it transfers test data to and from Cloudflare's public speed-test endpoint in order to measure your connection.

e. Advertising Identifier

If you do not hold an active subscription, the App offers an optional rewarded video advertisement as an alternative way to unlock a tool. To serve these advertisements, Google AdMob collects your device's advertising ID together with technical device and approximate location information. See Section 6 for your choices about advertising. Subscribers are not shown advertisements, and the advertising SDK does not request advertisements for them.

f. Diagnostics and Usage Data

We use Google Firebase to understand whether the App is working correctly. Firebase Crashlytics collects crash reports, stack traces and the device state at the time of a crash. Firebase Analytics collects aggregated, non-identifying usage events such as which screens are opened. These are attached to a randomly generated app instance identifier, not to your name or account.

g. Purchases

Subscriptions are processed entirely by Google Play Billing. We never see or handle your payment details. The App receives only the fact that a valid subscription exists for your Google account, which is what unlocks the premium tools.

3. Third-Party Services

The App integrates the following third-party services, each of which may independently collect data in accordance with its own privacy policy. As at the date of this policy, these are:

  • Google AdMob — for the optional rewarded video advertisement shown to users without a subscription. Collects the advertising ID and technical device data. Google Privacy Policy
  • Google Firebase — for crash reporting (Crashlytics) and aggregated usage analytics. Firebase may collect device identifiers, crash logs, and performance data. Firebase Privacy Policy
  • Google Maps — for map display in the navigation, waypoint and speedometer tools. Google Privacy Policy
  • Mapbox — for map rendering and downloadable offline maps. Mapbox Privacy Policy
  • OpenWeatherMap — receives your coordinates to return local weather conditions. OpenWeather Privacy Policy
  • Cloudflare — provides the public endpoint used by the internet speed test. Cloudflare Privacy Policy
  • Google Play Billing — for subscriptions. Purchase transactions are handled entirely by Google Play. Google Privacy Policy

We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these third-party services. We are not responsible for the data practices of third-party services.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the App's core navigation, camera and measurement functionality
  • Display maps, weather and location readings you have asked for
  • Monitor and analyze crashes and performance issues to improve stability
  • Serve the optional rewarded advertisement to users without a subscription
  • Process and validate subscription purchases
  • Comply with legal obligations

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information with third parties for their own independent marketing purposes. Data is shared only in the following limited circumstances:

  • With the third-party service providers listed in Section 3, solely for the purposes described in this policy
  • With Google, for the purpose of serving and measuring the rewarded advertisement, where you have consented to this
  • When required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request
  • To protect the rights, property, or safety of MIL-U, our users, or the public

6. Advertising and Your Choices

Advertisements in the App are strictly optional and always initiated by you: they appear only if you choose to watch a rewarded video in order to unlock a tool without subscribing. There are no banner, interstitial, or automatically playing advertisements anywhere in the App, and subscribers are shown no advertisements at all.

Where required by applicable law, consent for personalised advertising is requested through Google's User Messaging Platform, and is managed by Google in accordance with its own policies and documentation.

Independently of the App, you can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in your Android settings under Settings → Privacy → Ads, which also lets you opt out of ad personalisation entirely.

7. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information processed through the App. Connections to the third-party services listed in Section 3 use encrypted transport where those services support it. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we do not warrant or guarantee the security of any information.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

Because we operate no servers, we hold no copy of your data to delete. Everything the App produces — photos, videos, waypoints, trip records, downloaded offline maps, settings and sensor readings — is stored locally on your device. You can delete all of it at any time by clearing the App's data in your device settings, or by uninstalling the App. Data collected by the third-party services listed in Section 3 is retained according to their respective retention policies and is outside our control; any request concerning that data should be directed to the relevant provider.

9. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete such information promptly.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction or deletion of your personal data
  • Object to or restrict certain processing of your data
  • Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent, including consent to personalised advertising

You can also revoke the location, camera and microphone permissions at any time in your device settings; the tools that rely on them will simply stop offering those features. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the email address below.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitation of Liability

The App and all information, content, and features are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, MIL-U disclaims all warranties, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, MIL-U shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from (a) your use or inability to use the App; (b) any unauthorized access to or use of your data; (c) any errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in the App's content or functionality, including but not limited to GPS coordinates, compass readings, altitude and barometric measurements, speed readings, navigation data, map data, metal-detector readings, or device diagnostic results; or (d) any other matter relating to the App.

The App is intended as a supplementary tool only and must not be relied upon as a primary source for navigation, positioning, or location-critical decisions. It is not a survey, safety, or emergency instrument. Users are solely responsible for verifying all information provided by the App through independent means.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy. It is your responsibility to review this page periodically.

This policy describes the App as at the date above. Features, integrations and third-party providers may change as the App is updated, and this policy may be revised accordingly. Nothing in this policy creates any contractual obligation, warranty, or guarantee on our part beyond what is required by applicable law.
